This world needs Jesus.

This world needs Jesus.

Sounds like a great title for a rousing Sunday sermon, right?

But it’s true.  Our world needs Jesus and they are DYING without Him.

Our world needs the Jesus that lives inside my buddy David, who’s going through a living Hell, but sat in a closet at work and prayed and counseled with me for nearly an hour yesterday, as he explained his heart-breaking story, but how God is going to use him and he’s not backing down.

Our world needs the Jesus that lives inside my friend Eric, who told me portions of his story yesterday–how he had 100% blockage at the age of 36 and almost died, how God saw fit to take his 3-month old little girl home to Heaven several years ago, but the man stood, with tears in his old tough eyes, and told me about how his wife has always been the rock of their relationship, of how God has a plan for every single one of us, and how hard times will come, but we have to make the decision to face the hard times, or to give up.  Eric is a fighter.

Our world needs our story.

They’ve heard bits and pieces of the “Jesus story” all their lives…and some of it has been accurate, and much of it has been tainted with legalism, racism, and just flat out fallacies.  Our world is much more interested in hearing our story, and how Jesus has been the single common thread throughout our story.

A thread of hope.

A thread of unspeakable joy.

A thread of unexplainable peace.

Jesus has been the thread that has held us together, kept us from falling apart.

Our world needs Jesus.

Few of them are comfortable coming to our churches, with our pristine, stained-glass windows and “In the Garden” in a beautiful four-part harmony.  They don’t feel connected, compelled, or comfortable.

Our world needs Jesus.

And for many of them, the only way they will meet Him is through your story.

Your story.

Your life.

Your words.

Your actions.

The things you do every single day, which set you apart from the world.

The habits you have, which separate you from the status quo.

“What makes you different?”

“Why are you so happy?”

“How are you able to turn the other cheek–did you HEAR what she just said?”

Our world needs Jesus.

And they are dying without Him.

What are we going to do about it?

ATTIC,

Steve
